What does it mean to fire Judge McAfee against Ken Gale Trump in Georgia?

Why Judge Scott McAfee ruled in Georgia – but this is not the disqualification decision we’ve been waiting for. Rather, any Donald Trump constituents in Fulton County overseeing the case and the judge on Wednesday dismissed six counts in an unrelated order. But while the dismissal may sound dramatic, the latest order on the matter may not ultimately have much impact on any lawsuits against Trump and others.

Importantly, the initial 41-count indictment with the strongest RICO charge is not dismissed. And even those six counts could still be saved, because McAfee noted that Fannie Willis’ office could pursue another complaint that would address the problem she identified. The state can also appeal against its verdict.

The counts dismissed against Trump, his former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and his former chief of staff Mark Meadows and others involve a charge called solicitation of a violation of oath by a public officer. This includes, among other things, Trump’s infamous solicitation of Georgia Secretary of State and Brad Raffensperger. What the former president wanted was to “seek” the votes that the state and officials lost to Joe Biden in the 2020 election.
